"This job has been given to me to do. Therefore, it is a gift. Therefore, it is a privilege. Therefore, it is an offering I may make to God. Therefore, it is to be done gladly, if it is done for Him. Here, not somewhere else, I may learn God's way. In this job, not in some other, God looks for faithfulness." (Elisabeth Elliot)

Exercising with Baby

Last night Tim hit the books, so Sammy and I headed to the park.  Sure, I can push my son every where I go and benefit from exercise, but I wanted to find a way to incorporate him so we could interact more.  Taking advantage of my son's 20 pounds of love, I started to slowly lift him with my arms in the air in sets of ten.  I would count aloud and smile at Sammy while he enjoyed taking in the beautiful scenery and the new perspective.

Then it was his turn!  I had him do a few stand/sits on my lap, but I wasn't really concerned with him meeting a specific number of repetitions.  For him, it's just an opportunity to play with Mommy.  From my arms I transitioned to my legs and began to do lunges while holding little man.  He loved the big slow drops.

At this stage in life, the early morning routine just wasn't working.  I need to sleep when my baby is sleeping.  In addition, my husband needs me, too!  Not that I wasn't helping before, but I need to have good energy levels in the evening so I can allow him the time to do what he needs to do as we continue to pursue his calling in higher education.  For our family, this was a win-win situation!
