"This job has been given to me to do. Therefore, it is a gift. Therefore, it is a privilege. Therefore, it is an offering I may make to God. Therefore, it is to be done gladly, if it is done for Him. Here, not somewhere else, I may learn God's way. In this job, not in some other, God looks for faithfulness." (Elisabeth Elliot)

Starting Solids: 4 1/2 Months

Last Tuesday, Sammy weighed in at 19 lbs, 13 oz. (99%) with a height of 26 3/4 (94%) inches at his 4 month check-up.  In speaking with Dr. B, he recommended we wait until 5 months before introducing solids, however, he realized we had a big boy on our hands and he might want it sooner.  He told us if Sammy showed signs of hunger after nursing, we could consider introducing a single grain for a two week period and then add in some veggies.  He was really impressed to see such a healthy, exclusively breastfed baby and gave me kudos for my commitment to nurse.  Breast milk will remain his primary, but solids will serve as a secondary to aid him when he needs to be topped off.  I have no plans to wean him of breast milk.  I think our relationship has many months to go before he calls it quits for us.
