"This job has been given to me to do. Therefore, it is a gift. Therefore, it is a privilege. Therefore, it is an offering I may make to God. Therefore, it is to be done gladly, if it is done for Him. Here, not somewhere else, I may learn God's way. In this job, not in some other, God looks for faithfulness." (Elisabeth Elliot)

10 Months: Teething Survivor, Mr. Dare Devil & Sitting Up

Sammy turned 10 months this week.  He weighed in this month at 26 lbs, 10 oz.  We only know this because we had to take him to the doctor this week as he and Mommy have been battling with cold #3.  It started with what we thought was just allergies for me and then by the end of the first week, we were both sniffling, coughing and showing more signs of a nasty lingering cold.

In other news, Sammy is through his first phase of teething!  That's right, all eight are in and look great.  In a month in a half's time we saw so many break through his poor little gum line we never thought we were going to make it, but there is light at the end of the tunnel.  Sammy has also learned how to sit up on his own and is quite the little dare devil.  He loves to wrestle with his Daddy more than ever and thinks his Mommy is a moving jungle gym.  He will bounce on my knee or throw himself backwards in to my lap.

Dinnertime often involves Sammy leading the family in some clapping games.  He will start and then Mommy and Daddy will join in.  He'll giggle and then pause and start all over again. He continues to explore the house and his favorite place seems to be where the carpet from the living room and the tile in the kitchen meet.  He will drag his toys there and run (or throw) them across the tiles.  He loves to organize his toys.  He will place them on shelves, on the ottoman, or in a chair.  Sammy has also begun to show more of an interest in his books.  He will let me read through several at a time and Goodnight Moon has become a bedtime tradition.

In the area of foods, Sammy continues to welcome all that we offer.  This month he's tried roast beef, mashed potatoes, beets, asparagus, black beans and rice, Malta a meal and his favorite, Kashi 7-grain puff cereal.  In watching him eat the cereal, he will work on one type of grain at a time, sort of like like what I remember doing as a kid sorting out my M&M's.   It's really cute to see these sort of personality traits coming out in our little boy.

Our little baby is transforming into a toddler!  Grandma and Grandpa D will be visiting later this week to enjoy spending some time with their youngest grandson.  Sammy's at a really fun age, they should have a good time together.
